I run a 175mm reflector fitted to a custom housing and use a 250watt 24vdc globe and it's the best beam control i've seen.
very powerful and well focused, it gets plenty of light out to where you need it. for a light weight powerful spottie go a PL175 in either configuration (pistol grip or remote mount), just remember to use the factory specified globe.
